Jedi: Fallen Order
The 2019 game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a spiritual successor to the Jedi Knight series. It takes place between the Episode III and IV. The player controls a character named Cal Kestis, who is a former Padawan who is being hunted by the Inquisitors of the Empire. He has several Force skills and a lightsaber at his disposal. The game uses a third-person perspective. I thought it was a shame that Cal couldn't collect and use enemies' weapons.
The player is accompanied by a sidekick in the form of a BD-1 droid. Both Cal and BD-1 "unlock" various skills throughout the game that allow players to go to places they haven't been before. The story takes place on several planets, between which the player travels. The Stinger Mantis, piloted by Greez Dritus, is used for flights between planets. There is also a former Jedi Knight Cere Junda on the ship, and one more character will complete the crew during the game.
The veterans of the Jedi Knight series once again have Force Pull and Force Push skills available, Force Slow is a similar skill to the Force Speed, Jedi Flip is used instead of the classic Force Jump, and Wall Run completes the skills. At the meditation spots, which are used to save the position, the player can improve individual skills and acquire different combat skills. To upgrade, skill points are needed, which the player earns during the game.
There are also interesting secret places that improve the maximum number of lives, energy for skills and the number of stimpacks. Also scattered throughout the maps, there are chests that contain cosmetic items (for the lightsaber, clothes, BD-1 and Stinger Mantis).
In addition to character upgrades and game saves, meditation spots offer healing at the cost of the respawn of mobs. After completing the game for the first time, it also offers a Meditation Area where you can fight against various opponents (combat challenges). Also, the game can be played again in Journey+ mode, which means that already discovered chests are automatically opened.
It is interesting that the game was also worked on by people who worked in the Star Wars environment before (Rebels and Clone Wars screenwriters, the designer Doug Chiang, the sound designer Ben Burtt, the composer Gordy Haab).
